02/08/2007 - a small taste of the event
today we woke up at an early time of 8am for breakfast (toast and cereal) and packed our daybags for the journey ahead. we didn't need much but we needed the important stuff which would keep us alive e.g food, sleeping bag and waterproofs. We had a long journey ahead. after being told our route and given maps and compasses we set off. While we were walking j's waterbottle started leaking deleying us for 20 minutes until we were ready to go again with a new waterbottle and an excited team. The first sector of the walk was fine until we had to walk in a forest where the floor seemed to go up and never down. after climbing for what seemed like a day we finally reached the top of the forest and met another one of our group there. we had a small chat and time for a drink before setting off again. our next sector was a road full of gravel and very bumpy. we stopped for another drink at the end of the road. i got picked up before i reached the end because after climbing for so long my feet were basically dead. written by bobBack to Diary
