05/08/2007 - Cape Brett

Slight change of plan today, in that all (non explorer belt) Explorers had did part of the Cape Brett walk. First of all we had a lift in a boat to a place called deep water cove - we literally stepped off the boat onto a completely empty (except for a sign) beach. Our groups then walked to the Cape Brett Hut. It was only about 3 miles but was very rugged and took us about 4 hours. When we got there we had to unlock the combination lock to get in. We quickly realised that there was a rat/possum problem and had to make sure everything we used was clean. The toilets were also an experience - you had to go outside and up some steps to use the compostable toilets. They didn't smell but didn't look very nice!

After dinner we settled fairly early, though there were lots of scarey rat stories and rat related practical jokes!!!
